how to replace an old version with a new one ?

Post by john »

Hi,

After having downloaded a new version of LogMX, how should I upgrade my existing install?

Which file(s) should I replace, and which file(s) should I preserve if I don't want to lost my config and my parsers?

thanks

Hello,

In order to manually upgrade to a new LogMX version while keeping all your preferences (bookmarks, passwords, ...), here are the steps to follow:

On Windows:
Simply download and run the latest version (Windows installer) from https://logmx.com/download

Linux, Mac, or Windows without the installer:
  1. Download the latest version (TGZ package) from https://logmx.com/download
  2. Unzip the package anywhere you want
  3. Copy the following files/directories from your old LogMX installation directory to the new one:
    • "config/" directory
    • "parsers/" directory (optional: useful only if you use custom Java Class Log Parsers)
    • "managers/" directory (optional: useful only if you use custom Java Class Log Managers)
    • "startup.conf" file (optional: useful only if you changed the content of this file)
